The Jac-Shirt, as the name implies, straddles the line between shirt and full-fledged jacket. But that doesn’t make it a niche layer—it’s incredibly versatile. It’s actually based on a wool shirt-jacket Filson introduced back in the 1970s, but the Eagle Harbor features a totally different material. A few key highlights make it a standout.
First is the fabric: It’s made from a hefty 11-ounce waxed cotton fabric sourced from British Millerain, an esteemed purveyor of waxed canvas textiles. Like all waxed canvas fabrics, it offers excellent water resistance and will develop a beautiful patina, but this version is machine washable (most waxed canvas is not), so it’s really easy to care for.
Second, the Jac-Shirt has a longer cut, which makes it more protective in wet, blustery weather. Finally, it’s perfect for layering: You can slide it over a T-shirt in warmer weather or throw it on over a sweater or hoodie when conditions turn cold this fall.
