Pugh, new brand ambassador for Jaguar, helped show off the ultra-luxe Type 01 alongside Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover.

Jaguar has finally unveiled the final production version of Type 01, its new all-electric, super-luxe, high-tech grand tourer, and the very first model of the brand’s new era. Until last night’s official unveiling in New York, Jaguar had shown camouflaged prototypes at Monaco and Goodwood; at Pebble Beach it previewed the interior while explicitly keeping the exterior concealed.

Jaguar’s parent co. JLR turned the NYC debut into more than an auto-show-style reveal. The Type 01 was launched across the city with large-scale digital displays in Times Square, DUMBO and the Lower East Side, followed by the car driving through Manhattan on closed roads before arriving at Storied, a West Chelsea event venue that once served as legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz’s studio.

The exclusive gathering was positioned as a cultural launch rather than simply a press conference. British East of Eden actress Florence Pugh was introduced as Jaguar’s first brand ambassador for the new era, MTV Video Music Awards Best New Artist Sienna Spiro performed, and Eleven Madison Park veteran chef Rōze Traoré cooked up culinary delights.

At Storied, Jaguar also installed a small exhibition around the development of the car, including the single design line rendered as an aluminum sculpture, the so-called “Impossible Panel” showing how the production body shape was achieved, and tire marks taken from the test track to represent the car’s development and driving character.

Rawdon Glover, Managing Director, Jaguar, says Type 01 “distills the essence of Jaguar into a luxury grand tourer for a new era,” adding that “Jaguars should be objects of desire and culturally relevant – that’s their natural habitat and where Jaguar is returning.” He described Type 01 as “the foundation of the brand,” with “no compromise between design and engineering” in Jaguar’s effort to “reinvent Jaguar for the 21st century,” while recapturing the spirit of the E-type and XJS.
The well co-ordinated Type 01 debut and the impressiveness of the vehicle in general show that Jaguar has regained its footing after the controversial “woke” rebranding ad campaign in late 2024 that reportedly resulted in JLR’s then-CEO stepping down (the company called it a retirement).

Here’s all the headline new and final information:
The Type 01 has an eye-popping 1,015 hp and 1,007 lb-ft of torque, and hits 0–60 mph in 3.1 seconds. The car’s range will be 400 miles. Regarding charging, it can achieve 200 miles of range in 13 minutes, and 10–80% in about 22 minutes. The production car is extremely long and very low: 17.3 ft and just 55 inches tall. 23-inch wheels are standard; 21s are optional and are the wheels on which the 400-mile range claim is based.

The exterior palette includes Visionary Silver, Dramatic White, Iconic Black, Compelling Blue and Refined Grey in gloss, plus Modernist Blue and Mesmerizing Copper in satin. Jaguar will also offer a Design Vision launch specification in Visionary Silver Satin, with unique 23-inch diamond-turned wheels, metallic-black inserts and brass-effect Fender Ingot finishers.

Exterior details include frameless doors, a glassless tailgate, hidden-until-lit full-width rear lamps, flush handles, extremely slim headlights and the “leaper” — Jaguar’s traditional leaping-jaguar emblem — confined to the side “Fender Ingot” for now; quite subtle branding.
Jaguar is also launching a Chromatic Moments collection limited to 60 cars worldwide, in two bespoke colors: French Ultramarine and London Red, with special badging. The interior specification is substantially fuller than August’s tease: 12-way heated and cooled front seats with “hot stone” massage, heated and cooled rear seats, and a panoramic glass roof with an electronic/virtual blind as standard.

There are three screens in total: a 24-inch OLED in front, a seven-inch control screen between the front occupants, and another seven-inch screen for the rear passengers. The rear-view mirror arrangement is unusual: the digital rear-view display is built into the full-width dashboard soundbar, rather than hanging from the roof in the normal place. The cabin also boasts a fragrance diffuser, Comfort/Energize/Custom cabin moods, air purification, remote cabin purge, customizable ambient lighting and active road-noise cancellation.

The Type 01 has a class-leading 38-speaker Meridian audio system. Thirteen speakers are in the panoramic dashboard soundbar, another 25 are hidden around the cabin, and the front seats use Sensory Audio to physically transmit some of the music through the seat. Infotainment gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two wireless phone chargers and a 5G hotspot for up to eight devices. Apps including Spotify and Amazon Music run natively, with video available while parked/charging.

There’s a new conversational voice assistant, supporting 18 languages, that can handle multi-step commands and things such as opening the charge port, starting/stopping charging and finding charging locations. Interior choices are now spelled out: Kvadrat wool-blend textile with either leather or Ultrafabrics NeoGrain, plus three interior schemes—Light Story, Dark Story and the Design Vision “Original Story.”
The projected U.S. starting price is $130,500, with orders opening in early 2027 and first deliveries in the second half of 2027. We can’t wait to see this 1,000-hp beauty on the road.
