The DC Universe has a lot of things going on with the upcoming release of Clayface in theaters, as well as other films in the near future. But fans of DC Comics have grown worried after rumors of Supergirl lead Milly Alcock deleted a bunch of posts related to the film. It got to a point where DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn had to address everything directly.
On his official Threads page, James Gunn responded to a collection of rumors that have been going around about DC Studios in recent weeks. This included rumors about Matt Reeves leaving The Batman II production, Milly Alcock not being Supergirl anymore, and Superman: Man of Tomorrow poor test screenings. He stated everything going around was completely false, and had no basis in fact.
“Oh brother. You guys just have to stop listening to BS, and I’m mostly done shooting down rumors as there are so many and I’m not on here much. But all three of these couldn’t be more false. I’m showing PETER SAFRAN my first Director’s Cut today – he’s the first person to see it obviously – and that’s a month early!”
Discussions about Man of Tomorrow have been floating around for a long time. Rumors about Matt Reeves on The Batman II have only picked up in the last year after news about production began, as well as Matt Reeves stepping away briefly to address a personal family matter.
When Milly Alcock removed a bunch of posts on her Instagram page, it caused many DC fans to panic. While not all of her posts about Supergirl were removed, it was enough for fans to draw connections between that and the poor critical reception of the movie. Supergirl did not have a great box office run, and critics were harsh on the film when it was released.
This isn’t the first time James Gunn has debunked rumors about new and upcoming projects for DC Studios. The co-chairmen has been known to address reports and rumors directly on his social media, often with a snarky tone for the more outlandish ones. For now, fans of the DC Universe can relax knowing that Milly Alcock is still Supergirl, and more is on the way.
