After a near ten-year absence, Blondie is back with a new song.
“Spectral Eyes,” the first song from the band’s upcoming album High Noon, was released on October 15, accompanied by the album announcement. The new single is Blondie’s first since “Doom or Destiny,” featuring Joan Jett, in 2017. High Noon, set to release on February 26, 2027, will be their first since the release of Pollinator ten years prior.
“Spectral Eyes” was co-written by Johnny Marr, best known as the guitarist for the timeless rock band The Smiths. Marr also plays guitar and provides backing vocals on the new track, which also features former Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock.
According to a press release (via Billboard), High Noon “mixes [Blondie’s] classic punk/new wave energy with dance music and Latin rhythms on tracks that feature contributions from Marr, Matlock, Beirut’s Zach Condon and Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius.”
The new album will also be the final Blonde album to include contributions from Clem Burke, the band’s drummer, who had been a member since 1975, shortly after their initial formation. Burke, who was also a member of the Romantics, died of cancer in April 2025, at the age of 70. Lead vocalist Debbie Harry, along with guitarist Chris Stein, are the two remaining core members of the group, who were part of Blondie’s original formation in 1974.
“This album is classic Blondie — an amalgamation of all our different influences and eras into something new,” Harry said in a statement regarding the new album (via Billboard). “This music feels grounded in the present, shaped by who we are and how we’re living now.”
“It’s been a long, strange ride, and somehow here we are with another Blondie album,” Stein added. “I’m not sure what the f–k I’m supposed to say at this point, except that we’re incredibly grateful for all your support over the years.”
