Man Falls To His Death At Bass Pro Shop In Alabama

A Bass Pro Shop employee died in Leeds, Alabama, while on the job. He fell while putting up seasonal lights on the storefront’s exterior.

The Alabama man has been identified as Kurt Kralovec, a 70-year-old employee of the sporting goods retailer. The Jefferson County coroner identified him. Kralovec is from Trussville, Alabama.

He reportedly fell from a bucket lift while hanging holiday lights outside the store Sunday afternoon, according to local news outlet WVTM 13.

Both the Leeds Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, better known as OSHA, are still investigating the matter separately.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates put the accident at 4:20 p.m., and Kralovec was pronounced dead almost 30 minutes later on the scene. According to AL.com, Kralovec fell out of the lift and landed on asphalt 20 to 25 feet below.

In a statement to WBRC, Bass Pro Shops said, ”Our hearts go out to the family of Kurt Kralovec, and to our entire family of Outfitters, as we grieve the loss of our dear friend and 12-year teammate. Our thoughts are with everyone affected during this difficult time.”
