Meghan Markle Spotted Dining with Malala Yousafzai in London

Meghan Markle was spotted in London for the first time in six years sharing a dinner with activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai. As reported by People, a video of the two women was posted on social media from Claridge’s—the famous luxury hotel in the Mayfair neighborhood.

An opponent of the Taliban regime and an advocate for girls’ education, Yousafzai has been friends with the couple for several years. They had previously spoken on International Day of the Girl in October 2020—a conversation during which they discussed the importance of girls’ education. “Meghan and I are on the same page: We both believe that when girls have access to education, everyone wins,” the young woman said.

The Couple’s First Public Appearances in the UK

Although they have kept a low profile since their arrival, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have nonetheless been spotted on several occasions. Markle was notably seen on September 21 in Oxfordshire, enjoying an outing with her longtime friends Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. The couple was also photographed holding hands last week, enjoying their first outing together since their return.

Markle remains very active on social media and regularly posts family videos. While she hasn’t yet resumed any significant public activities in the UK, she continues to run her lifestyle brand, As Ever.

A Permanent Move?

After leaving the UK for California for six years, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, returned to England on August 26. While the couple isn’t giving up their home in Montecito, California, they appear to be back in Europe for an extended, indefinite period.

This new chapter in Britain remains unclear for now, but one thing is certain: The couple will remain inactive in royal duties. Fearing confusion, King Charles sent a letter to the government stating, “Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used.” Now living in a house in the Cotswolds, Prince Harry resides just a few kilometers from his father—whom he has not yet seen again.
