Alan Ritchson has built quite the reputation in Hollywood as a kicka** actor, starring in action-packed movies and shows like Fast X, Playdate, Runner, Titans, and of course, arguably his biggest project to date, Reacher. However, if you didn’t know, he is more than a force to be reckoned with onscreen. The man has quite the set of pipes. In a clip that’s now going viral, he shows he could have been a Billboard chart-topping artist rather than a highly sought-after actor (though who’s to say a singing career is off the table in the future).

In this viral video, Ritchson has an acoustic instrumental of Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” playing in the background as he belts out the lyrics to the song. If you’ve seen him fighting in one of the movies or shows above, then seeing him hit the notes he did in the video may come as quite the pleasant surprise.
Take a look for yourself below, and if you are interested in hearing the original Jackson song performed by the King of Pop, you can check out the track from the 1982 Thriller album on Spotify, Apple Music, or your preferred music streamer.

Alan Ritchson Once Auditioned for ‘American Idol’
With all this being said, Ritchson actually did try his hand in the music business before he went full throttle into acting. In 2004, he tried out for a spot on American Idol at the Atlanta, Georgia stop. Before he even sang a note, the then-judge Paula Abdul appeared to swoon over Ritchson for his looks, prompting fellow judges Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell to allow Abdul to conduct the audition alone. The Reacher star then flirtatiously belted out a rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “You Are the Sunshine of My Life.”
Unfortunately, Ritchson got cut before he made it to Hollywood. However, had he made it to the Top 20 or Top 10, he would have had a real hard time winning. That season, he would have been forced to face off against Jennifer Hudson and the eventual winner that season, Fantasia Barrino.
By the way, there’s no word on whether the viral clip of Ritchson singing Jackson will lead to him restarting his music career. So for now, it’s best to enjoy the music gems when he drops them.
