Thirty years ago, Reebok and Allen Iverson combined to change the game of basketball and the world of basketball sneakers forever.
Now, as part of the anniversary of Iverson’s transcendent rookie season, Reebok is bringing back the Hall of Fame guard’s iconic Question sneakers. On Monday, the company announced the launch of the Reebok Question Mid Recoded.
What to know
The new Reebok Question Mid Recoded is debuting in two colorways: the original “Red Toe” and a “30th Anniversary Green.” The updated model incorporates the shoe’s original design and silhouette with modern cushioning and traction.
“30 years later and the legacy continues,” said Iverson in a press release shared with Men’s Journal. “This shoe has always been about doing things your way and not asking for permission. The Question Mid Recoded keeps that same energy alive for the next generation.”
The new kicks feature the original Question outsole pattern, but “redeveloped for modern play,” along with a “super critical” foam pod for cushioning. The shoe’s premium leather upper has been reshaped for a more forgiving fit than its predecessor, with a midsole stability plate for control on the court.
“With Recoded, the goal was to honor everything that made the Question an icon,” explained Reebok basketball designer Anthony Hale. “This meant staying true to the original silhouette that’s become ingrained in Iverson’s DNA. Rebuilding this shoe for the modern hooper to live in and play in simply meant injecting our latest tech and understanding of how a basketball shoe should feel and perform.”
When can you get it?
The Reebok Question Mid Recoded will launch in the United States on November 10 at Reebok.com and exclusively at Foot Locker. The shoe will become available globally on November 16.
