Study Identifies 1 Simple Habit Change by Men That Revives Desire in Women Facing Low Sexual Interest

A new study that researched women who report lacking sexual desire in a relationship found that a simple habit change by their male partner can make a large difference. In fact, it linked one behavior change with “higher sexual desire” among previously disinterested women and “greater sexual satisfaction” in both partners.

Break the Daily Patterns Holding Back Desire

In October 2026, the Journal of Psychopathology and Clinical Science published a study about women in relationships suffering from sexual interest/arousal disorder. Sexual interest/arousal disorder (SIAD) is characterized by a persistent lack of sexual interest or excitement.

According to the study, the key to making women in relationships with men experience more sexual interest is introducing “relational self-expansion” into their dynamic. That means creating new experiences for the couple to try together outside of the bedroom. More practically, the study suggests that simply breaking daily routines and connecting over fresh experiences can be a game-changer. As a result, men who want their female partners to experience more sexual interest should strive to create more variety in their lives.

One of the things that made the study so revealing is that both the men and women in the relationships were asked to anonymously reveal how doing new things together affected their sexual dynamic. The study found that on days when couples connected over new experiences, both partners were likely to perceive increased partner responsiveness from their mate. Importantly, both partners were more likely to experience “greater sexual satisfaction” on those days.

Of course, introducing new experiences into a relationship daily is logistically impossible for most couples and could easily result in dissatisfaction in the long run. However, the study didn’t focus on couples who were constantly mixing things up. Instead, it focused on how sexual dynamics changed on the days when variety was introduced and the couple connected over those experiences. It also didn’t place any limitations on what those routine-breaking changes were, so any couple hoping to learn from the study’s results can try to create variety that works for them.

While the study found a clear connection between escaping routine and increased sexual interest in women, it is important to note that results can vary across different relationships. The other key to remember is that the study focused on women who have experienced sexual interest/arousal disorder, and there can be other reasons for a lack of interest in intimacy.
