Once the world’s fastest roadster, this recently restored Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse now lives on the French Riviera.

In 2025, the Bugatti Brouillard ushered in Programme Solitaire, a specialized division formed to deliver bespoke automobiles in the tradition of the marque’s early-20th-century coachbuilder collaborations. But it was still possible to get a one-off Bugatti back in the time of the Veyron, which was the first production vehicle to break the 1,000-horsepower and 250 mph barriers.

The scintillating example seen here is a Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse. Boasting an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 uprated to 1,184 horsepower, up from the Veyron’s 1,000 hp, the topless variant set the world speed record for the fastest production roadster at 254 mph in 2013 at Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessien test track.

While fewer than 100 Grand Sport Vitesses were produced, this one was crafted from aluminum blocks weighing up to 20 tons that were then formed into the Veyron’s body and polished to a mirror shine. The original owner, “renowned for his appreciation of rare and highly individualized models,” selected a “Carmine Red” leather interior, which provides striking contrast to the brilliant body.

Through La Maison Pur Sang, Bugatti’s program for authenticating, preserving, and restoring historically significant models, chassis 8.100 underwent a comprehensive certification process alongside careful refurbishment and reconfiguration. La Maison Pur Sang can modernize or return a car to its original spec—in this case, it removed “later personalization elements” to take it back to the day it first left Bugatti HQ in Molsheim.

Now it’s under new ownership and housed on the French Riviera, where it surely stands out even among other elite rides commuting on coastal Mediterranean roads from Nice to Cannes.

“Our role is to guide collectors at every stage of their journey, from exploring a car’s history and provenance to identifying the perfect addition to their collection and ultimately upholding its authenticity for generations to come,” said Luigi Galli, a Bugatti certification expert.

“Seeing this Veyron embark on a new chapter within its new owner’s collection is a wonderful reminder that the most exceptional Bugattis are far more than automobiles.”
