Travis Kelce Makes Strong Statement After Chiefs’ Loss to Broncos

The Kansas City Chiefs held a 24-13 lead in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

However, they ultimately squandered that lead. Despite having a chance to win the game in the final seconds, they lost 28-24.

This was the Chiefs’ second consecutive loss, dropping them to 5-2 on the season, while the Broncos took sole possession of first place in the AFC West with a 6-2 record.

Travis Kelce Makes Strong Postgame Statement After Loss

Following the game, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce did not hold back when discussing his thoughts on himself and the team.

“In our hearts we feel like we should’ve came out with a victory, but at the same time, that’s not the reality of things,” Kelce said, via The Athletic. “Reality of things is we gotta fix a lot. The little things, mistakes. And it’s starts with the person that you’re looking in the mirror.

“I’m one of them,” he added. “I’ve been frustrated with myself on how long I’ve been in the league and the procedural stuff that happened for the last three games really… “I gotta be better for my teammates and that sets the tone for a lot of people in this room. Everybody’s just gotta up the ante. We showed some fight, a lot of fight and I can take that out of this.”

Kelce is currently in his 14th NFL season, so you can sense the urgency in his words, as he likely knows this could very well be his final season in the league.

He finished Sunday’s game with five receptions for 67 yards. He’s also had a fairly productive year, totaling 29 receptions for 410 yards and two touchdowns.

The Chiefs will be back in action Sunday when they return home to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the New York Jets (2-6).
