Virgin Wants to Pay Someone $100,000 to Travel the World. All You Have to Do Is Say Yes.

Chris Tomkins was home in Newcastle, England, when a bagpiper appeared outside his door. This was not a neighborly complaint about the noise. It was how Virgin told him his next assignment involved whisky tastings, castle tours,s and a hotel stay in Edinburgh.

Tomkins landed the company’s first “Head of Yes” gig, a role that sounds like something invented by someone in HR who’s had a few complaints.
We see you, Chief Officer of Fun.
However, this turns out to involve real travel, real money, and occasional visits from men carrying bagpipes.

Now Virgin is hiring again, and this time Americans can apply.

The company is offering one adventurer $100,000 for a six-month partnership beginning in January 2027.

The work is straightforward, if your definition of work includes leaving the house with some enthusiasm. Travel through Virgin’s world of flights, hotels and adventures, experience new things, and document everything through videos, photographs and social posts. Virgin provides the experiences, plus an allowance for reasonable travel-related expenses.

Of course, this is marketing. Virgin wants content, not someone to disappear into a picturesque fishing village and spend a month learning to make stew. Still, there are worse ways to earn a living than being curious about the world and going a little off course to find out what’s around the next corner.

The best part is that you don’t need a massive social media following or a professionally edited highlight reel. Virgin says it’s looking for curiosity, personality, and a memorable story.

How to Apply for Virgin’s $100,000 Travel Gig

The application process is simple. Interested applicants must make a short video describing a time you said yes to something that changed your life. Post it publicly on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube, tag @Virgin, and include #HeadOfYes.

Applicants must be at least 18 and live in the United States or United Kingdom. The deadline is Tuesday, October 20, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time. Virgin plans to announce its selectionon  November 30.

One important detail: this is a paid creator partnership, not a traditional salaried job.

But for somebody who’s spent years dreaming about getting paid to see the world, it might be worth dusting off a good story and saying yes.
