A former WWE Champion is adding another high-profile project to his resume, this one a Prime Video series centered on Muhammad Ali.
According to Deadline, Chris Jericho has been cast in The Greatest, a scripted, limited series about the boxing legend. Jericho will portray wrestling icon Gorgeous George, whose unapologetic arrogance and wordplay famously shaped Ali’s larger-than-life persona.
“[I got it] from seeing Gorgeous George wrestle in Las Vegas [in June 1961],” Ali told the Associated Press‘ Hubert Mizel in a 1969 interview (h/t CBS Sports). “I saw his aides spraying deodorant in the opponents’ corner to contain the smell. I also saw 13,000 full seats. I talked with Gorgeous for five minutes after the match and started being a big-mouth and a bragger. He told me people would come to see me get beat. Others would come to see me win. I’d get ’em coming and going.”
At the time, Ali had traveled to Las Vegas for a boxing match against Duke Sabedong. George, meanwhile, was in town to wrestle Freddie Blassie.
The Greatest, which spans eight episodes, is the first authorized scripted series chronicling Ali’s life and career. Jericho, who is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, will reportedly mark his first appearance in the show’s fourth episode, donning Gorgeous George-inspired curls.
His acting credits include Terrifier 3, MacGruber, and The Thundermans.

Jaalen Best leads The Greatest cast as Ali. Joining him and Jericho are Omari Hardwick, Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham, and Michael Ealy. Hardwick and Gourrier portray Ali’s parents Cassius “Cash” Clay Sr. and Odessa “Bird” Clay. Ben Watkins serves as the creator, showrunner, and executive producer.
The new Prime Video series will premiere on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026 in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
