Former WWE Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer Out of Action ‘Indefinitely’

WWE star Stephanie Vaquer’s status has been the subject of many questions recently.

At WWE Money in the Bank on Oct. 10, “La Primera” sustained an ankle injury that led to her hobbling around on crutches during the fallout episode of WWE Raw two days later. By the next weekend, however, Vaquer was seemingly okay to compete once more as she wrestled at a pair of WWE live events in Hawaii.

On October 24, Vaquer dramatically threw her crutches to the floor in a social media video clip, declaring that she was medically cleared to compete in a televised match against Becky Lynch on Raw. The winner of that bout would have gone on to challenge Liv Morgan for the WWE Women’s World Championship. Unfortunately for Vaquer, she never got that opportunity as doctors abruptly withdrew their medical clearance, with Raw General Manager Adam Pearce revealing the news at the top of the Oct. 26 broadcast.

Since then, fan speculation has pointed to injury as the potential reason for Vaquer’s absence. According to PWI Elite, however, the issue is actually believed to be illness-related. False Finish corroborated this report, adding that the two-time Women’s World Champion will be out of action “indefinitely.”

Vaquer, a native of Chile, signed with WWE in July 2024 and immediately marked her debut at a live event in Mexico. Three months later, she officially came aboard the WWE NXT brand, where she went on to hold the NXT Women’s North American and NXT Women’s Titles. Vaquer has remained a fan favorite through both her NXT and WWE main roster runs.

In Vaquer’s absence on this week’s Raw, Lynch directly vied for the WWE Women’s World Championship in the main event. Morgan ultimately retained the title after her Judgment Day cohorts, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, caused a disqualification.
