Amal Clooney Ticks off Every Fall Style Classic at the Theater

Amal Clooney has always been a fan of a statement look, never missing an opportunity to wear archival couture in Cannes, punchy prints in the Med, or dazzling sequins on the red carpet. But formalwear and vacation wardrobe aside, her everyday style is a little more down-to-earth, as evidenced by her latest appearance in New York, which saw Mrs. Clooney opt for an everywoman approach to a fall look—albeit in a fittingly elevated way.

Joined by her husband George Clooney, she was photographed leaving Seaview Studio over the weekend in an understated look, wearing a long suede coat over her monochrome outfit. Amal also added a couple more fall favorites to her seasonal outerwear: a pair of suede boots and a Bordeaux manicure.

While the scene had all the makings of a romantic date, the couple leaving the venue hand in hand, there was a professional reason for the pair’s outing: George was presenting a one-off charity reading of Clark Gregg’s play Smear, in which he shared the stage with actors including Betty Gilpin, Laverne Cox, and Adam Scott.

Parking the Old Hollywood glamour for a more relaxed approach, Amal’s choice of outerwear confirmed that a suede jacket deserves a place in every transitional wardrobe, whether you’re popping to the grocery store, or in her case, supporting your movie star husband on a night at the theater.
