Roast & Coffee
You’re not a true JB enjoyer if you haven’t heard of or tried Roast & Coffee at least once. A longtime favourite among Singaporeans, Roast & Coffee specialises in Nanyang cuisine, serving up the kind of comforting local dishes you’ll find yourself craving after a day out in JB.
And here’s a little tip from personal experience: the Eco Palladium outlet tends to be much quieter than the ones closer to the checkpoint, so you can skip the long queues and sweat while waiting for a table.
Some of their popular picks include the Signature Laksa (RM10.90) and Salted Egg French Toast (RM9.90), but you can’t leave without trying their signature Ice Bath Cham (RM9.90) too. Because what’s a JB food trip without a good cup of cham?

Soil Cafe
If you’re craving something sweet after running around Eco Palladium in the sweltering heat, Soil Cafe is the perfect spot to cool down and take a little breather.
The cafe has a clean, nature-inspired interior, with plenty of spots where you can sit back, chat and look out at the open fields outside. And for dessert lovers, their menu is basically a little slice of heaven, with an interesting mix of pastries and drinks to choose from.
Some of the more unique picks include the Oreo Matcha Croissant (RM16) and Salted Egg Toast (RM24) — because why settle for a regular dessert when you can have something a little more fun?

11 Doo Do
If you’re on the hunt for a cute, Instagrammable cafe where both you and your food can have a little photoshoot, 11 Doo Do is definitely one to check out. The space is effortlessly aesthetic, with plenty of cute corners to snap some pictures while enjoying food that looks just as good as it tastes.
Their menu has a little bit of everything, from savoury mains like their Mini Ochazukes to pretty desserts like their Strawberry Bouquet Cake. Everything is plated with so much attention to detail, and with the cafe’s soft lighting, you’ll probably want to take a photo of everything before you even start eating.

Shang Bar & Restaurant
If you’re looking for somewhere a little more classy with proper date-night vibes, Shang Bar & Restaurant is a good pick for dinner. With an elegant setting and an equally tempting menu, it’s the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy your food and actually have a proper conversation.
From their Signature Satay Chicken Chop (RM27.80) to pretty cocktails like the Applejack Sour (RM59), there’s plenty to indulge in while soaking up the romantic atmosphere. Its the perfect excuse to dress up a little and make a night of it.

If you’re looking for something fun to do with your friends, head over to Work in Progress Studio and get crafty with their DIY bag charms and Moru dolls. Feeling a little more ambitious? You can also try your hand at making your very own silver clay ring. From shaping and designing to firing the finished piece, you get to be part of the whole process and walk away with a ring that’s uniquely yours.
