While these statistics and figures can feel inspiring, it is important to remember that no group is a monolith, and women are certainly no different. White women in particular frequently vote against progressive values even when it weakens their own bodily autonomy or rights. Since 1952, there have only been two Presidential election cycles where the majority of white women voted for the Democratic candidate, and neither time was in the 21st century. Each of the three times that Donald Trump ran for President, white women were by his side as voters, press secretaries, advisors, cabinet officials, and more. This can’t be ignored because while some of us are working to mitigate the harm, others are furthering the violence, making true unity impossible.
