Forvia and Great Wall Motor expand partnership globally

Great Wall Motor’s agreement with Forvia shows Chinese automakers leaning on established suppliers as they localise abroad

Forvia and Great Wall Motor have turned a long-running supply relationship into a framework for global strategic cooperation, taking their work beyond China into the Chinese automaker’s key overseas markets. The agreement spans technology development, manufacturing performance, talent development, sustainability and supply chain resilience.

Forvia will draw on its lighting, electronics, seating and clean mobility businesses, together with its international plant network, to support Great Wall Motor’s expansion abroad. It is pitching a local-for-local model, serving customers from operations in the markets where they sell.

Forvia Chief Executive Martin Fischer said Chinese automakers are emerging as major global forces and reshaping competition, and that success abroad will depend on pairing local development with global execution. Zhao Guoqing, Great Wall Motor’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Supply Chain Officer, called globalisation central to its strategy and said a partner that understands China while offering global reach is essential.

For Forvia, following Chinese customers as they expand offers growth beyond its established customer base, while an experienced supplier with plants worldwide could ease local sourcing for Great Wall Motor in new markets. Great Wall Motor calls the framework a starting point for deeper cooperation on technology, supply chains and market expansion.
