Unsolved Mysteries is returning in a new format! The long-running true-crime franchise is being revived as a video podcast, with new episodes arriving weekly on YouTube starting October 29, 2026. Hosted by Jordan Murphy, the new series will investigate mysterious murders, baffling disappearances, notorious unsolved cases, and unexplained events, while also providing updates on cases previously featured in the franchise.
Deadline broke the news of the new Unsolved Mysteries video podcast, which comes from Unsolved Media and Audacy. The launch marks another chapter for a series that has been captivating audiences with real-life mysteries for nearly four decades.
Unsolved Mysteries Video Podcast Launches October 29
The new Unsolved Mysteries video podcast will debut on YouTube on October 29, with new episodes released every Thursday. Updates on cases previously covered by the television series and podcast will arrive on select Tuesdays. Jordan Murphy, who previously hosted NBC’s Tool Academy and has appeared in episodes of General Hospital and Grey’s Anatomy, will serve as host.
The video podcast will explore cases ranging from mysterious murders and missing persons to wanted fugitives and unexplained deaths. Among the mysteries set to receive attention are the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, the vanishing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, and the still-unsolved theft of artwork from Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. The series will also investigate lesser-known cases, continuing the franchise’s tradition of bringing attention to mysteries that have left families, investigators, and the public searching for answers.
Unsolved Mysteries Creators Hope Viewers Can Help Solve Cases
Terry Dunn Meurer, co-creator of Unsolved Mysteries and president and CEO of Unsolved Media, expressed enthusiasm about the new project:
“We’re thrilled to be expanding the Unsolved Mysteries brand in this pivot to the video podcast world. There are still so many mysteries that need to be solved and we know we can reach a wide audience on YouTube and through Audacy’s distribution. And we hope our audience can help solve these mysteries, as they have for decades.”
Leah Reis-Dennis, Head of Podcasts at Audacy, added:
“Unsolved Mysteries has an incredibly passionate audience and a legacy that continues to resonate across generations, and we’re excited to bring the podcast into a new era with video. With Jordan Murphy at the helm and all-new cases to explore, this next chapter brings a fresh dimension to a beloved franchise and offers advertisers new opportunities to engage with a devoted fanbase across both audio and video.”
A Look Back at the Unsolved Mysteries Franchise
The original Unsolved Mysteries began with television specials in the 1980s hosted by Raymond Burr, Karl Malden, and Robert Stack. The series subsequently became a regular program with Stack as its best-known host, later adding Virginia Madsen as a co-host. After Stack’s death in 2003, actor Dennis Farina hosted a revival that aired new episodes between 2008 and 2010.
The brand expanded into audio in 2020, when Unsolved Mysteries launched a podcast with Cadence13. That podcast ran for approximately 80 episodes before ending, while Netflix introduced a new television version of the series in July 2020. The Netflix revival took a different approach from the original program, dispensing with a traditional host and using documentary-style storytelling and re-enactments to examine individual cases. The streaming series has released five volumes, comprising 30 episodes, with its most recent installment arriving in 2024.
The new video podcast arrives more than two years after that latest Netflix volume and more than three years after the previous audio-only podcast ended.
