Alan Dysert’s Television Career and Acting Education

Dysert played con man Sean Cudahy on All My Children from 1980 to 1990, appearing in 79 episodes. He began acting in 1978 on the sitcom Soap, before landing what would become his best-known television role.

Dysert grew up on a farm in rural Illinois, and studied television arts at the University of Illinois. He was in real estate until he transitioned to stand-up and acting.

His career went beyond television. Dysert was a musician, writer, filmmaker, producer and acting teacher who mentored aspiring performers. In her tribute, Michele said he was a man who inspired thousands of students to believe in themselves and follow their dreams.

In a statement to People, his longtime agent, Melinda Eisnaugle, said: “His death is a loss to the acting community and we will remember him for his positive energy and kindness.”

Michele also said that Dysert wanted his family and friends to remember his life rather than his death. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Cody and Cooper.
