Right on time for the upcoming winter holidays, Netflix is gifting its subscribers a little-known Christmas film that also happens to be one of Timothée Chalamet’s earliest on-screen appearances.
Love the Coopers (known as Christmas with the Coopers in some territories) sees a then-teenage Chalamet, as part of an ensemble cast including Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building, Father of the Bride), Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine, Argo), John Goodman (Monsters Inc., The Big Lebowski), Ed Helms (The Office, The Hangover), Diane Keaton (The Godfather, The First Wives Club), Jake Lacy (Furious, High Fidelity), Anthony Mackie (Captain America: Brave New World, The Studio), Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout, The Housemaid), June Squibb (Nebraska, Thelma), Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, Spider-Man: No Way Home), and Olivia Wilde (The Invite, House).
“For their annual Christmas Eve celebration, Sam Cooper (Goodman) and his wife Charlotte (Keaton) welcome four generations of extended family, including son Hank (Helms), daughter Eleanor (Wilde) and Charlotte’s father, Bucky (Arkin),” the official synopsis for Love the Coopers, which lands on Netflix on November 1, states.
“Sam and Charlotte are separating after 40 years of marriage, while Hank is in the middle of a divorce. As the guests reveal their respective problems, they also rediscover the importance of kinship and the spirit of the holiday.”
The Lionsgate release, which earned $44 million during its theatrical run, has appeared infrequently on Netflix in the past, and will return to the streaming service next month. While Love the Coopers recieved negative reviews by critics upon its release over a decade ago, the demand from audiences is apparently strong enough for Netflix to regularly re-introduce it to its library during the holiday season on multiple occasions.
Love the Coopers (or Christmas with the Coopers) arrives on Netflix U.S. on November 1. International territories may vary.
