Eight years after its emergency call, 9-1-1 has rushed back to the top of Hulu’s chart. The first-responder drama climbed 13 places overnight, following the arrival of its tenth season.
According to The TV Ratings Guide, the series ranked 14th on October 16 and first on October 17. Meanwhile, its return pushed The Kardashians out of the top spot.
What sent 9-1-1 racing up Hulu’s chart?
Earlier, Season 10 premiered on ABC on Thursday, October 15, at 8 p.m. ET. Then, Hulu added the episode the following day, giving streaming viewers their first chance to catch up.
Importantly, the show had spent only a few hours on Hulu before its chart appearance. Therefore, the jump compares a snapshot with its position after viewers had more time to watch.
Alongside that rise, Grey’s Anatomy reached second place, while 9-1-1: Nashville landed third. Together, the three ABC dramas occupied Hulu’s highest positions on October 17.
What happens in the 9-1-1 Season 10 premiere?
This time, the opening episode, “That Sinking Feeling,” brings volcanic danger to Los Angeles. As the emergency grows, Angela Bassett’s Athena Grant faces trouble while adjusting to her work as a detective.
According to the network’s episode description, “The 118 faces an earth-shattering emergency that shakes Los Angeles to its core.” Beyond the disaster, Buck and Eddie also face tension over parenting.
Originally, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear launched the series on Fox on January 3, 2018. Later, it moved to ABC for Season 7, keeping its focus on emergency workers and their lives.
For newcomers, Hulu also carries the previous nine seasons, making earlier rescues available alongside the storyline. Additionally, new episodes stream the day after their Thursday broadcasts.
However, this ranking does not provide viewing hours or a subscriber total. Instead, it records a chart position.
