‘Resident Evil Outbreak’ Is Finally Playable Online With Friends for Free

Resident Evil Outbreak and Outbreak File 2 are back from the dead. A mysterious user by the name of “lucas” has gotten both games online, and even more impressive: they are both free to play with no download required.

Both games are available on Outbreakweb. The games are fully playable through the web browser on any computer. Some cell phone browsers also work to play the games on mobile. The games include all scenarios, unlockable characters, cutscenes, and all other content for both original games.

Users can also adjust the resolution to play a sort-of “HD” version of the titles. Gamepads also work with the web browser games, letting users play the game on keyboard and mouse or on controller.

The games are fully functional and allow online play with private and public rooms. The original games released on the PlayStation 2 before the time of high-speed internet, which resulted in many fans believing the games were ahead of their times.

The games have been playable online via emulation for years, but this is the first time they are both available via a web browser with no download required.

lucas has stated that the game may have some lag spikes here and there, as the game’s online network is host-dependent, so users that are far away from each other may have some issues with the games.

Since these versions of the games are technically unofficial, it remains to be seen if Capcom will take action to remove the web browser and delete the service.

At the time of writing, over 300 people are online playing the titles, some of them playing the games as intended (online) for the first time. Others are taking a nostalgic trip back to Raccoon City with their friends.

Capcom has not released an official statement regarding these games, this web browser, or anything of the sort.
