Jason Statham is defending the hive once again in a sequel to 2024’s surprise action hit The Beekeeper. The famously physical British movie star is reprising his role as a former “Beekeeper”—a member of a secret extra-governmental club tasked with protecting society—for The Beekeeper 2, the first teaser for which was just released by Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax.

The original film combined several features from other franchises in the genre: the Bourne trilogy’s super soldier gone rogue, James Bond-style one-liners, and a brand of over-the-top combat befitting, well, every great action movie released in the 21st century.

The new installation looks to continue the formula. If 007 were American, for instance, he might have something like the 1969 Dodge Super Bee “fully loaded with stinger” that’s presented to Statham’s Adam Clay—”the most dangerous operative ever created”—by Jeremy Irons’ former CIA director. Said “stinger” is a passenger seat-mounted minigun.

He couldn’t be more rogue, as he’s now taking on the Beekeepers organization. And the action is unrelenting—the teaser, which is set to Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls” shows Statham jamming the business end a flamethrower into a baddie’s mouth. He even rattles off a quip: “Next time, don’t be so hot-headed.” The Beekeeper 2 buzzes into theaters on January 15, 2027. Watch the first teaser trailer below.
