Abimelec Arellano, a virtual artist better known as “abimelecdesign” on social media, has prepared the newest wishful-thinking project – a cool American coupe. The thing is that this pixel master has a knack for the Blue Oval side of America’s automotive market. He recently gave us a Ford Taurus SHO Saleen sedan, a Ford Crown Victoria Ute with steelies, and even a Ford Crown Victoria with an Australian passport, among others.
But now he’s not interested in sedans – only feisty muscle cars of the coupe variety. He explains that he thinks the “new Mustang Dark Horse SC is incredible— 2.9 seconds to 60 and a bunch of track-ready hardware, plus a very distinctive body kit and aerodynamics. I love that, and I love it even more because underneath the Dark Horse badges, carbon fiber wheels and carbon fiber inserts, I can see something else that had been missing from Mustangs for a while,” aka the ‘Cobra stance.’
According to his vision, the Cobra models from the Ford Motor Company from the 1990s and 2000s “had a very unique stance— whether you’re talking about the Fox-bodies or the more extreme Cobra Terminator, they always had that ‘chunkier,’ heavier, aggressive presence.” So, when Ford unleashed the 795-hp Dark Horse SC, “the overall look just screamed Cobra stance to me, more specifically, one of the most iconic Mustangs of all time: the 2000 Cobra R.”
As such, he decided to bring out the “essence” of that model to CGI light, via some digital modifications plastered over the Dark Horse SC: “the chin spoiler is deeper, lower, and the side aero elements are gone. The carbon fiber inserts are all painted, along with replacing the grille horse with the Cobra.” Additionally, the artist reimagined the five-spoke Cobra R wheels, created thicker and lower side exhausts, and now there are side exhausts, of course.
Last but not least, the CGI presentation is based on the “wonderful” Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 video game, and the “rear diffuser is hollowed out where the exhausts used to be to move more air, and on top of the rear sits the controversial Cobra R wing. Of course, it is not exactly a Cobra R wing; this is way more curved and contoured to the body of the S650, but keeps the styling almost identical to the original.”
