What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the Audi RS 3? That it’s a great premium subcompact sporty daily? That the Sportback, aka the hot hatch version, is not available in the States? That the Sedan is just as cool as its five-door sibling?

Well, all of the above are correct, yet we can tell you that you probably do not think of this model as a supercar killer. But it is. And that’s without any outside intervention. How come, you ask? Well, it’s an older-generation supercar bully, because the newer blue-blooded models sit in a much superior league, and they are faster than ever to the point where their output and performance would have put them in the hypercar league a couple of decades ago.

Lamborghini’s Countach, which was a supercar born between 1990 and 2001, needed just 4.5 seconds in order to reach 62 mph (100 kph), according to a test conducted by Auto Motor und Sport back in the day. And that’s pretty much new-gen hot hatch territory. Don’t get us wrong, because we’d pick the classic Countach over any modern-day hot hatch (and not only), but in terms of performance, it does not make a deep statement anymore. But the thrills that it provides are definitely worth writing home about.

We didn’t mention this model for nothing, because we want to compare its performance to the Audi RS 3 Sedan. For instance, the 2023 model year car, which you can see on video at the bottom of the page, needed just four seconds flat in order to complete the 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph) sprint. And that’s half a second faster than the Countach. To better put this number into perspective, we will also remind you that the Ferrari Enzo needed 3.65 seconds in order to complete the acceleration.

Flat-out, the four-door did up to 174 mph (280 kph), and that’s with no outside intervention. The engine is a five-cylinder 2.5-liter with turbocharging, which pumps out 395 horsepower with zero mods. That’s 400 horsepower for the metric crowd, and 294 kilowatts. As for the peak thrust, it was rated at 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) when the car was new. Everything is channeled to the all-wheel drive system via a 7-speed automatic transmission.

As a result, this iteration of the Audi RS 3 Sedan packs plenty of punch for fun daily drives, wrapped into a premium subcompact four-door body. As for the example depicted on video at the bottom of the page, it features some ultra-fat tires wrapped around the new wheels, as well as a few other modifications, and to be honest, nothing says that it packs a jaw-dropping amount of power. But it has, and it is so much oomph available via the right pedal that it can send shivers down the spines of modern-day blue-blooded machines.

If the video uploaded, namely Extreme Acceleration TV on YouTube is correct, then this machine has no less than 1,200 horsepower. Not at the crank, but at the wheels. The car boasts countless oily modifications, and is said to tip the scales at 3,150 pounds or 1,428 kilograms. And if you want to see what it is capable of in a straight-line acceleration, then you have come to the right place, because it was demonstrated.

The demonstration occurred on what seems to be a public road late at night, and we obviously do not condone this behavior, because car-related stunts should be kept away from public roads for obvious reasons. The footage, which is roughly one-minute long, does not actually reveal the 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) acceleration time, nor the top speed of this otherwise insane Audi RS 3 Sedan, as it only shows that it needed a mere 3.03 seconds in order to get from 60 to 130 mph (97 to 209 kph), according to the third-party device that recorded the run.

So, what should we understand from this? That this machine likely has too much oomph for its own good, and laying down the immense thrust is extremely tricky. Thus, its owner definitely needs to fix that, as it may be a surface-to-surface missile after taking off, but the take-off part remains controversial. Either way, with the right amount of work, this thing can actually end up giving supercars a run for their money, in a straight-line acceleration test, anyway.

Now, before inviting you to drop a few lines in the comments area below and speak your mind about this crazy Audi RS 3 Sedan, we have to tell you to click play on the video embedded at the bottom of the page, and see this machine in action. And now that you have, what is your take on the immense output, the performance, and the way it sounds?
