Angel Studios, the faith-friendly studio behind Sound of Freedom, has announced a sweeping new content policy across its films which promises no on-screen sex, nudity, or F-bombs. Also, there will be no misuse of God’s name in its productions. The founders are calling this The Angel Promise.
No Sex, No Nudity, No Cursing, But What About Violence?
While speaking with Fox News Digital, Angel Studios co-founder and Chief Content Officer Jeff Harmon said, “We promise there’s never going to be nudity, and there’ll never be sex on screen.” The F-word won’t be included in any project, and there will be no profanity whatsoever in any title intended for children 12 and younger. And absolutely no misuse of God’s name. It’s all part of a move to help build trust with religious families.
“What we promise our viewers is that this timeless principle that’s thousands of years old, and we’re a very faith-friendly studio, is that we’re not going to have misuse of God’s name on the system on any Angel original content,” Harmon said. “So any content we create. Where we are originating, meaning it comes to Angel first, those shows, those TV shows and movies, will not have misuse of God’s name, so that families of faith, ’cause we’re a faith-friendly studio, can trust that language won’t be there.“
But what about violence? That appears to be fair game for the most part. In the FAQ section, Angel Studios states, “Violence is a grey area, and grey areas belong to the Angel Guild, so the Guild votes on every title. If a film or series is too violent or bloody, we trust the Guild to reject it.“
What is the Angel Guild?
If you’re wondering what the Guild is, it’s the Angel Guild, a streaming community where members have the right to veto whether a movie or TV series is included on the service.
“Every film and series brought to Angel goes before the Angel Guild,” reads the description. “Members watch it and vote. A title has to score at least 70 out of 100 during the voting process to be approved for Angel, meaning the Guild has the power to block any film or series from entering the Angel ecosystem.“
“Hollywood Lives in a Bubble”
Harmon added that Hollywood has lost touch with families. “I think Hollywood generally kind of lives in a bubble,” he said. “These are excellent craftsmen. They’re the best storytellers in the world. Hollywood has built the best storytelling infrastructure in the world.“
He continued, “But at the same time, they’ve kind of drifted more and more away from the values-based audience that they used to serve,” Harmon said. “And with that, in our view, as brothers and as fathers, as a father, Hollywood hasn’t been giving me consistently what I need. Once in a while, you get a good one, but you have to sift through all these things to find your good movies and your good stories.“
Angel Studios has been steadily increasing its output, with a handful of films released in 2026, including Solo Mio, Young Washington, The Brink of War, Runner, and Angel and the Badman.
