More than a decade after “Blue Is The Warmest Color” won the Palme d’Or at Cannes, Léa Seydoux is revisiting the film’s notoriously difficult production and the professional fallout from speaking out about her experience. The French actress says producers pressured her to remain silent during awards season and ultimately removed her from the film’s promotional campaign when she refused.
Speaking at the Middleburg Film Festival, where she received the Achievement in Acting Award, Seydoux recalled the exhausting six-month production of director Abdellatif Kechiche’s controversial 2013 drama and the shock of seeing its graphic sex scenes for the first time at Cannes.
