Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 3 to Stomp Onto the Scene with a New Direction and Creative Team

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is getting ready to roar again after securing a Season 3 renewal, and this time, the series is stomping in a fresh direction! According to Apple TV+ and Legendary Television, the newly greenlit season will introduce a batch of brand-new Titans to Legendary’s Monsterverse, giving creature feature diehards plenty of fresh mayhem to chew on.

Passing the Baton to Fresh Blood

To help the series land on a massive new foot, a search for a fresh showrunner and writing staff is officially underway. They’ll take the reins from the original creative team led by showrunner and executive producer Chris Black, who co-created Monarch alongside Season 1 executive producer Matt Fraction. Passing the baton on a tentpole franchise is always a gamble, but with the Monsterverse continuing to dominate both screens and high-end boutique disc releases, the potential here is sky-high.

Apple TV+ Doubles Down on Titans

Legendary, the power player that successfully locked down Monsterverse rights from Toho, is continuing to build out its sprawling Titan-filled ecosystem through a multi-series deal over at Apple TV+. The expanding lineup includes Monarch: Legacy of Monsters alongside an upcoming, untitled spinoff focusing on a Young Lee Shaw, with Wyatt Russell stepping back into the boots of Colonel Lee Shaw. Serving as showrunner for the series is Joby Harold, who is currently developing several other entries in the franchise alongside his producing partner, Tory Tunnell, via their Safehouse Pictures banner.

A Stacked Cast Enters the Fray

Joining Russell for the monster-sized offshoot is a stacked ensemble cast that includes Millie Brady, Pilou Asbæk, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, Nyasha Hatendi, Connie Nielsen, and Stana Katic. On the executive producing front, Harold, Tunnell, and Russell are steering the ship alongside Andy Goddard, Kyle Bradstreet, Jim Skotchdopole, Max Borenstein, Chris Black, Alex Boden, and Toho’s own Hiro Matsuoka and Keiji Arita. Taking the helm behind the camera is JD Dillard, who pulls double duty as both director and executive producer.

The Kaiju Empire Keeps Stomping

Whether you’re tuning in on streaming or holding out hope for a steelbook release with room-shaking sound design to rattle your bones, one thing is clear: Legendary’s Kaiju empire isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
