Outfitted with an 8.2-kW drivetrain, puddle-light illumination, and custom Cloud Wings, this $20,000 eFoil can hit speeds near 30 mph.

From Japanese-streetwear-inspired electric motorcycles and convertible G-Wagen conversions to Axopar speedboats and Drake’s dune buggy, the vehicular customizations of Brabus know no bounds. While the main business is still automobiles, the ambitious German customizer has branched out yet again in the form of an electric hydrofoil.

Following the debut of a collaborative electric surfboard with Denmark’s Awake, the brands have teamed up again for an electric hydrofoil, i.e., a battery-powered board with an underwater wing that lifts it out of the water at speed.

Design-wise, it’s been fully Brab-ified with several of the outfit’s “Shadow” signatures, among them a black carbon-fiber finish complemented by red accents, the giant white “BRABUS” logo on its underside, and a high-grip deckpad featuring Brabus’s “Triangle” pattern, stitched versions of which have appeared in the brand’s auto interiors. An integrated 2,000-lumen red LED lighting system projects a “light carpet” onto the water beneath, much like a coachcar’s puddle lights.

At the hydrofoil’s heart is Awake’s 8.2-kW electric drivetrain with a maximum 120-minute runtime, paired with a reinforced mast measuring 80 centimeters (31.5 in.) and Brabus-branded Cloud Wings. The companies promise “tight turns, smooth transitions” and glides at speeds of up to 28 mph, which approaches the fastest end of consumer boards. An exclusive Brabus Hand Controller 4 (HC4) provides intuitive access to the eFoil’s performance settings, including a unique Brabus Performance Mode. Awake’s Click-to-Ride system connects the battery, drivetrain, and controller wirelessly.

Limited to 77 examples, the Brabus x Awake Shadow is priced at just under $20,000.
