James Bond-Like Movie Based on WWE Legend’s New Spy Novel in the Works

A James Bond-style spy thriller is coming together from an unexpected source.

WWE legend CJ Perry, best known to wrestling fans as Lana, is venturing into the world of international espionage with her upcoming novel, Bulletproof Angel, which is now being developed for a movie adaptation similar to those with the iconic 007 character. She delivered the news in a new interview with “TMZ Inside The Ring.”

“It is going to be made into a movie,” Perry said. “We’re already in the works with it. Very exciting. We’re already starting to work on the packaging. It’s like a James Bond spy thriller. There’s some women leads, which is really exciting.”

Bulletproof Angel, a book co-written by Perry and Blake Northcott, will hit bookshelves on Nov. 10, 2026. Pre-orders are available now for through retailers like Target, Amazon, and BenBella, the publisher.

Perry’s story centers on Reagan Ashe, a young CIA operative sent to Russia for her first undercover assignment. Posing as the girlfriend of a powerful mafia boss, Ashe must work to prevent a dangerous arms deal worth billions of dollars.

Casting details are largely being kept under wraps for the movie adaptation, though Perry has confirmed that her husband, WWE star Rusev, will portray a villain in it. Perry is also looking for a high-profile woman to lead the film.

“We’re going to get a bigger actress, like a bigger name,” said the former WWE talent. “I’m producing it, though. I’ll probably do a little cameo because why not. I love acting. But the biggest thing, for me, as a producer, I want to get names that move the needle, the best actresses. Even though I’m phenomenal, there is people that are better.”
