John Stamos is ready to reclaim his title as one of television’s greatest hair icons.
The 63-year-old actor has reunited with Pantene 32 years after starring in a 1994 commercial for the brand. This time, the partnership comes with a self-aware campaign in which Stamos tries to convince Pantene to make him its “Ultimate Ambassador.”
In the first video, Stamos arrives at Pantene’s headquarters armed with his original advertisement, a vintage television and a 26-karat gold comb. He plays the old commercial for employees, recites his lines from memory, and dramatically runs the comb through his hair to demonstrate that he still has what it takes.
When Pantene’s CEO appears, Stamos pitches a few possible ambassador titles. Her response suggests the name might need some work, but she cannot deny that his hair still looks good.
The reunion began in April, when Stamos shared his original Pantene commercial on Instagram and publicly asked the brand to call him. Pantene eventually answered, turning the request into a series of mockumentary-style videos centered on the actor’s enduring reputation for great hair.
“Pantene is the longest relationship that I’ve ever had in my life,” Stamos joked in an interview about the campaign.
His hair has been part of his public identity since his years playing Jesse Katsopolis on Full House. Uncle Jesse’s pompadour, early mullet, and strict “nobody touches the hair” philosophy helped turn Stamos’ grooming routine into a recurring part of the character. More than three decades later, the hair remains remarkably consistent.
Stamos says he uses Pantene’s Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner when he wants shine and bounce. He also reaches for the Miracle Rescue Deep Conditioning Treatment when his hair needs additional care.
The partnership arrives at a time when men’s grooming has expanded well beyond basic shampoo and a quick haircut. Male consumers are paying more attention to conditioners, masks, scalp treatments, and styling products, making Stamos an easy bridge between nostalgia and the current hair-care conversation.
Whether Pantene officially grants him the title remains to be seen. After 32 years of good hair days, though, his résumé is difficult to argue with.
