As MobLand heads into its final few episodes of Season 2, the endgame is still somewhat elusive. That said, more than ever, it seems that Harry (Tom Hardy) will always figure out a way to have one ace up his sleeve. In fact, Season 2, Episode 7 is called “Ace of Spades,” which could refer to the ending of the episode, in which Harry figures out how to get himself and Paul (Emmett J. Scanlan) out of a dangerous situation with Frankie Cooper (Johnny Flynn). The title also might refer to the fact that all of this goes down in a casino, or it may even suggest that some other character, one who does not appear in this episode, could be the key to everything.
Though “Ace of Spades” ended with Harry making a move against Frankie’s family, the biggest unanswered question is still about Harry’s family, specifically, his estranged wife, Jan (Joanne Froggatt). In other words, where is Jan? And will her return be pivotal for the end of MobLand Season 2?
Harry beats Frankie, but he hasn’t won the MobLand war
After Frankie makes a move to abduct Paul, Harry hatches a plan to get Paul back and prevent information from leaking into enemy territory. While Frankie is clearly unhinged, Harry bets that he’ll still care about his son, who is serving time in jail, potentially getting taken out.
The thing is, the ending of the episode makes it seem like Harry has ordered the hit on Frankie’s son, even though it was maybe implied he’d hold off if Frankie released Paul. What does this mean long-term? Well, it means that Harry just proved to Frankie that there are no limits to how he’ll wage war against Kat McAllister. But Harry’s motivations to mess with Frankie’s family might be more connected to something in this episode that we don’t see.
Jan’s whereabouts after MobLand Season 2, Episode 6, are still a mystery

After intentionally shooting Donnie (Alex Fine), Jan has gone missing. Harry was, of course, aware that Donnie was sent by Frankie to seduce Jan as a way to get into his head. What Harry didn’t anticipate, and what the audience didn’t see coming, is that Jan would actively seek revenge on Donnie, who, she knew as “Jamie.” Harry’s move against Frankie’s family might foreshadow his concern that his enemies will still move against him and his family.
But, at this point, with only three episodes left, it’s odd that the biggest wildcard in the MobLand deck is one of the kindest, most normal-seeming characters. Then again, last season did end with Jan stabbing Harry (by accident!), which makes you wonder if this season we’re headed for another big Jan-related twist.
MobLand streams on Paramount+. Season 2, Episode 3, drops next Friday, November 6.
