Taylor Sheridan’s Hit Cowboy Show is Coming Back With a New Season This Week

Taylor Sheridan has no shortage of shows on television right now, but one of his lesser-known series is about to return for another season.

The Last Cowboy is coming back to CMT for Season 7 on Friday, Nov. 6, with a six-episode season premiering at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The series follows some of the world’s top Western horsemen as they compete in reining, cutting and cow horse competitions.

The series is a little different from Sheridan’s better-known scripted hits such as Yellowstone, Landman and Tulsa King. The Last Cowboy is a documentary series that goes behind the scenes of the Western equine sports world and follows competitors on the road to Sheridan’s own The Run for a Million competition.

Season 7 Has a Million-Dollar Prize in Sight

The new season follows competitors preparing for The Run for a Million, which CMT describes as the biggest and most prestigious event in Western equine sports.

The competition comes with a massive incentive: a $1 million prize purse.

This season’s road to the event will also run through Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch, which is now home to the reining qualifier.

Among the riders featured in Season 7 are Andrea Fappani, Kole Price, Gabriel Borges, Gina Schumacher, Jordan Williams and Erin Taormino.

Fappani enters the season as the first reiner to surpass $10 million in career earnings, while Price is looking to reclaim the championship he won in 2021. Schumacher is returning for her third attempt at the competition after coming within one stop of winning two years ago.

‘The Last Cowboy’ Has Been Running Since 2019

Sheridan launched The Last Cowboy in 2019, making it one of the earlier television projects in the increasingly massive Sheridan universe.

While the creator has become best known for scripted dramas about ranchers, cowboys and the American West, The Last Cowboy gives viewers a real look at the people competing in the Western horse sports that Sheridan has been involved with for years.

The show’s connection to Sheridan is particularly direct. He serves as an executive producer, alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and David Hutkin.

How to Watch Season 7

Season 7 of The Last Cowboy premieres Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.

Episodes will also be available the following day through CMT VOD. For anyone who wants to catch up before the new season arrives, the first six seasons are currently available to stream on Paramount+.

With Sheridan’s Western universe continuing to expand, The Last Cowboy offers a different way to see the world that has become such a major part of his television career — this time with real riders, real horses and a $1 million prize on the line.
